I know today is the day when we all try and sum up our past year. I’ve been trying to find the best way to do that for myself, and I think I finally came to a conclusion: 2024 was a cup of coffee.

It started off bitter - family health issues, a back surgery, and very little work. Add in the stress of home buying, and it was a rough start (kind of my own fault with that - call it taking a sip while the coffee is too hot). But it slowly got better, with close friends showing how much they care, family coming together in both times of need and in times of celebration, and settling in to the new house. Work picked up with new clients and exciting opportunities. I went to concerts headlined by two of my favorite artists. Things were looking up.

Then came the crazy period as the caffeine kicked in: producing a film, seeing my sister get married, officiating the marriage of dear friends, travel jobs, juggling multiple deadlines, and preparing for the holidays.

Finally, the ultimate buzz: out of the blue - after years of trudging through the muck of dating apps - finding the person that sets my soul on fire while simultaneously bringing me so much joy and peace. Spending time with the people that mean the most to me.

And now, it’s the post-coffee times of settling down, reveling in the journey, and preparing for what’s to come. For many of us, it may be another cup (or 4 😬) of coffee. But maybe that’s what life is: bitter moments that lead to the ultimate highs, allowing us to reflect on our journies, learn from both our failures and our successes, and look forward to new days ahead. So, yeah: 2024 was a cup of coffee. And you know what? I think I’m ready for another cup. Happy New Year, everyone. Here’s to filling our cups in 2025.

I’m so excited to share my new Animation Demo Reel! In addition to taking group classes, I’ve spent the last few months in coaching sessions with @kirstendayofficial working towards this voiceover demo, and I’m so happy with how it turned out. I just have to say how grateful I am to Kirsten, her husband and audio engineering wiz @ihearsteve, and everyone involved with @soundonstudio for all of their guidance and support over the last several months. I’ve wanted to explore voiceover more deeply for a long time, and I made the decision early this year to do just that. The journey is just beginning, but it’s been so soul-affirming. Still need to paint the interior, but that’s less urgent. As always, many thanks to my dad @kallen2818 for all the help in getting this accomplished. Another renovation off the To-Do List!

When I bought my house, the back and side yards were absolutely overrun by ivy and general neglect. Samantha came out, inspected the property, and provided me with some great, competitive quotes to transform my yards. Had the absolute pleasure of spending yesterday with the @lakedayfilm cast and crew, lending my car as a picture car and also helping on set while there. Wish I could have stuck around for the rest of the production, but happy I was able to help a little, especially because it meant seeing and working with friends I haven’t seen in years (and making many new friends, in the process). Best of luck to everyone with the rest of the production, and make sure you catch the finished film when it’s released!

This year’s winners include Adobe, Calvin Klein, ESPN, LinkedIn, Mother Jones, MTV Entertainment Studios, NASA, the LA Clippers (NBA). PlayStation Studios, Sawhorse Productions, TelevisaUnivison and more.

Fierce Little Bird received a GOLD AWARD in Branded Content - Events & Experiences for “Tradition Meets Hoosier Heart: The Carmel Christkindlmarkt,” as well as a SILVER AWARD in Branded Content - Documentary: Short Form (Under 40 Minutes) for “Craniosynostosis Skull Reshaping: Dariush’s Story.” This was a record breaking year with nearly 13,000 entries from across the globe and top video and television content producers.
